We aim to understand and compare parenting style of Chinese parents with only child with that of Taiwanese parents with only child and then analyze its implication. We also intend to analyze the differences of gender and socio-economic status of the only-child on the Taiwan and China. Thus, we can have further understanding of the frequency of implementing democratic concern, autocratic arbitrary, loose spoiling and neglect indifference in child rearing styles. The results of the study are analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, One-way Analysis of Variance and two-way Analysis of Variance. The results of the research are listed as following:
1.The only child on the cross-strait ties perceives significant differences between father's and mother's parenting styles.
2.Father in the only-child family on the cross-strait ties has a remarkably distinct parenting style in different genders.
3.Mother in the only-child family on the cross-strait ties has no remarkably distinct parenting style in different genders.
4.Parents with only child on the cross-strait ties have noticeably differences in parenting styles in the aspects about the socio-economic status, democratic concern and autocratic arbitrary.
5.Parents with the only child on the cross-strait ties have differences, and the aspects of democratic concern and autocratic arbitrary are apparently different.
6.There is no interaction in the only child of different gender in parents' parenting styles of Kaohsiung and Shanghai.
7.Father has interaction in the aspects of democratic concern and mother has interaction in autocratic arbitrary in the one child of socio-economic status of Kaohsiung and Shanghai.
