An Application of Patent Analysis to Investigate the Technological Development of Taiwan Aquaculture / 應用專利分析探討我國水產養殖之技術發展

碩士 / 國立屏東科技大學 / 科技管理研究所 / 100 / This thesis uses patent analysis to investigate the technology development of aquaculture in Taiwan. 446 related patents, over the years of 1993 through 2012, are collected and used to draw managerial and technical maps.
It is found that the most applicants are individuals, followed by private companies, colleges and universities, and other research insitutes. Two peaks of patent granted, in 1997 and 2004 respectively, are identified. Although a large number of individuals have been conducted tremendous amount research works, it is seen that, in recent years, many organizations and individuals, with electrical/electronic engineering background, associated with colleges and universities have patents in aqua-enviroment monitoring and control domain.
Technical maps show that the major aquaculture technologies are aquaculture hardware, water purification as well as water filtration and cycling. The most-pursued effects are to increase, to be more convenient, and to reduce. It is also identified that water purification techniques are competing with each other with different effects, such as to increase the production, to control the aqua-enviroment, to lower the costs or to save energy. Furthermore, to obtain the effects of "to increase" can be achieved by applying various aquaculture hardware or by adopting water cycling devices which are seen as competing technologies.
In summary, the development of the aquaculture technological in Taiwan has been investigated. The results not only demonstrate the path of previous work in the related domains. They also provide a direction for future development and research work in the aquaculture technologies.
