碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 航運管理學系 / 100 / Liner shipping carriers always have to adjust their container fleet due to the increase demand of freight market. Carriers can choose to purchase new units or acquire containers from leasing companies during fleet expansion. More than 40% of containers around the world are managed by leasing companies and most of them are leased by carriers. With the development of container leasing industries, the use of container master-lease or short term lease by shipping carriers has become limited to long term lease. The aim of this research is to identify determinats that influence carriers signing long term lease agreements with container leasing companies. A structure was hierachically constructed based on these determinants to help evaluating and ranking determinants of container long term lease decision by shipping carriers. It was empirically studied and conventional and the fuzzy AHP were applied to calculate relative wieghts of the structures. Results demonstrate that ranking for determinants of container long term leased by carriers are as follows“container damamge protection plan”,“option for extending the lease period”,“flexibility of lease period”,“per diem rate”,and“drop-off charge”.
