碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 航運管理學系 / 100 / Due to the rise of ports of Mainland China in recent years, foreign ships have reduced the willingness to stop at the ports of Taiwan. It makes the business size and volume of Taiwan shipping agency industry shrink, and the related enterprises therefore face a major test for the development of future. Through the case study and related literatures, the thesis analyzes the key successful factors for the shipping agency industry to provide the development strategy and enhance the competitiveness of the industry. The main purposes of the thesis are:
1. Analyze and summarize the key successful factors for the shipping agency industry.
2. How to make developing strategies to match the key successful factors and enhance the competitive advantage of shipping agency industry.
From the interviews and literatures study, this thesis found the shipping agency industry should consider three viewpoints including of industrial characteristics and structure, business scope and position and general environmental factors, and the coping developing strategies are as followings:
1. The shipping agency industry should meet the needs of each type of customer. In addition, it should be market-oriented, including towards the scale of operations, the use of differentiation strategies to enhance the cognizance of brand .And the enterprises should pay more attention to the training of employees to offer customization and better service quality and maintain the customer relationship
2. The shipping agency industry must have a clear vision and an accurate position to make full use of the internal and external resources and plan flexible coping strategies. And for the shipping agency industry, differentiated services are more important than differentiated products.
3. The shipping agent industry is subject to the changing of government policies and economic factors. In the future the related enterprises should pay more attention to the cross-strait economic development opportunities, strengthen the expansion of routes, increase exchanges with the ports of Mainland China and accelerate the development of logistics district and related infrastructure. In addition, the enterprises require more frequent attention to the international political and economic changes to develop a dynamic and flexible business strategy.
