碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 環境生物與漁業科學學系 / 100 / The spot-tail shark, Carcharhinus sorrah, is a common carcharhinid shark found in the waters off Penghu Taiwan. A total of 281 specimens were collected monthly from Oct. 2010 to Jan. 2012 at Makung fish market, Penghu. Sample size for both males and females were 154 and 150, respectively. All species were captured by long-liners and gill-net under the depth of 20-60m in waters off Penghu (23°10´-23°50´N,119°18´-119°41´E). The range of total length (TL) of males and females were 63-121 cm and 57-142 cm, respectively. The maximum likelihood ratio test indicated that there is a significant difference between sexes on weight (TW) –length (TL) relationship and can be expressed as following, TW=0.017TL2.920 (n=154) for males and TW=0.017TL3.041 (n=150) for females. This study used the vertebrae to estimate the age and growth parameters. Edge analysis result annual growth rings formation, and translucent band was formed in October. The oldest age of females and males was 8.83 yrs and 13 yrs, respectively. The best fitted growth equation for C. sorrah is von Bertalanffy growth function (VBGF). The growth parameters were L∞=141.5 cm, k=0.197 yr-1, t0=-2.860 yrs for females, and L∞=153.6 cm, k=0.137 yr-1, t0=-4.209 yrs for males.
