碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 商船學系所 / 100 / In marine transportation market, ship owners are currently facing some problems regarding continuous increase of fuel costs and operation costs. They try to use ship weather routing services with professional equipments assisting ship operations in order to decrease those costs and create more economic benefits. Voyage reports of ship weather routing were used in this study to analyze significant factors influencing sailing time. Logistic regression method was also applied to build a forecasting model. The results show that weather and current are the most important factors.
Following literature review, the voyage reports and interview with navigational experts a questionnaire was designed which adopted Taiwanese ship officers and pilots as research subject. And then the satisfaction regarding to ship weather routing services was analyze using multivariate analysis. The results show that ship officers and pilots are satisfied with items of “increase safety of people”, “increase safety of cargos”, and “increase safety of ships” from ship weather routing services.
