A Study of Compsrison of LNG of Carrier’s Propulsion Efficiency of Comparative / 液化天然氣運輸船推進效益比較之研究

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 商船學系所 / 100 / In the past 4 decades, The LNG carrier of propulsion and generator most of the use of steam turbine, due to steam turbine installations can using evaporated “Gas“ as fuel oil in the engine, and obvious reliability, which makes the application of first priority in the filed of LNG Carrier. However, the diesel engine are equipped / installed in most of other type of merchant ships. Meantime the poor propulsion effect of steam turbine which cause the negative impact to business benefits and waste gas emission as well.
In the past, engineers in marine industry keep seeking for the best substitute propulsion system with more efficiency and environment protection as well as an alternative device for LNG ship steam turbine. With the mature development of the technology of LNG transportation marketing, diesel engine propulsion device installed on board has gradually over the steam turbine device.
The problems of 3E (Economic, Environmental, Energy) for shipping company to pursue consensus, and how to respond is the main subject worthy of careful consideration.
In this study, aimed at research of the present dual-fuel marine propulsion device in the filed of LNG ship technology, operational efficiency, marine equipment and construction, marine engine trend as well and the detailed analysis of the natural gas market and nature.
In this paper, detailed information of advantage and disadvantage of all various aspects in main engine model in the transport ship carrying steam turbine and diesel propulsion driven system and re-liquefaction facilities, and the study of fuel cost in the application of re-liquefaction equipped in LNG ship.
Finally, in the filed of fuel consumption cost/carrying tons cost/ percentage of the proportion of fuel expenditures and total carrying value of nature gas in various engine output, for comparison, analysis, statistics on the generation of economic benefits, by means of mathematical formulas, the benefits of diesel propulsion driven efficiency is 13% more than up the steam turbine. The diesel power driven engine is the final option, more detail exposition in this study.
Required to response to natural gas ship specifications, provide follow-up recommendations of the study, look forward to be helpful to the advancement of the maritime industry.
