A Comparative Study of Adolescents’ Scientific Competencies and Related Scientific Attitude among Taiwan, Hong Kong and Shanghai / 臺灣、香港和上海地區青少年之科學態度對其科學能力比較分析

碩士 / 國立臺北教育大學 / 教育事業創新經營碩士學位在職進修專班 / 100 / The purpose of the study was to investigate the interaction effects the levels ofscientific attitude for Taiwan, Hong Kong and Shanghai adolescents’ scientific competencies by analyzing the data sets from PISA 2009 (Programme for international Student Assessment 2009, PISA 2009).
The subjects were Taiwan, Hong Kong and Shanghai students of 15-year-old in
PISA 2009. A full model of 2-way ANOVA was used to detect the interaction effects the levels of scientific attitude for students’ scientific competencies. In the model, the factor was the level of scientific attitude and the dependent variable was scientific competencies. The factor “levels of scientific attitude” was defined by four groups as express their feelings groups, to keep questioning groups, scientific preferences groups and rigorous thinking groups. The dependent variable “scientific competencies” was calculated by averages of 5 plausible values in science.Several evidences of interaction effects the levels of scientific attitude were found in the study.There were statistically significant differences of scientific attitude in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Shanghai groups. The results will provide substantive guidelines for educators, practitioners, and researchers in related communities.
