The Fun for Young Children to Read Picture Books repeatedly—A case study of Rainbow Fish to The Rescue and Olivia / 幼兒重複閱讀圖畫書的樂趣–以《彩虹魚的新朋友》和《奧莉薇》為例

碩士 / 國立臺東大學 / 兒童文學研究所 / 101 / To explore the teaching method that meets young children’s demand and reading fun, the study takes 29 young children in an Affiliated Kindergarten of Elementary School in New Taipei City as the research subjects and conducts a teaching activity of reading picture books repeatedly, with the purpose of observing and learning the fun and influence of such reading behavior on young children. During the process, each student has a picture book, and the teacher read one book once a day in the fixed time every day. The teacher do not provide any guidance or extended activities, but just read the words in the picture books until everyone’s book has been read. Therefore, every picture book can be repeatedly read for 29 days.
The study adopts the qualitative research method, and collects data from participant observation, interview and various document collections. After classifying and analyzing the data, the research findings are as follows:
1. When repeatedly reading picture books, young children can enjoy fun from the dialogue with texts, other readers and telling stories.
2. After repeatedly reading the picture books, young children will take the initiative to read the texts and discuss the texts and related topics with other children and realize the fun of telling stories, which has positive influence on their language, drawing and reading behaviors.
3. The teaching method of repeatedly reading picture books is easy to conduct and can make young children take the initiative to study, increase their confidence and sense of achievement, create good class reading atmosphere as well as promote an interactive relationship between students and teachers.
Therefore, it is suggested that teachers and parents select picture books with strong literature for repeated reading with their children, so that they can not only enjoy the fun of reading freely but also achieve the purpose of reading teaching.
