A Study On The Business Strategy Of Budget Hotel In China : A Case Of Shanghai City / 中國大陸經濟型酒店經營策略之研究-以上海市為例

  The development of Budget Hotels in China in recent decade is vigorous and the industry rapidly becomes the core consumption in hotel industry. Thus, it will be an important research issue to satisfy multiple demands for accommodation for the business opportunity. By exploring the important factors of business strategy of Budget Hotels in China, this study constructs the related indicators in order to adopt effective business strategies to compete with the rivals.
  This study treated Shanghai City in China as the research scope, and collected the opinions of scholars and industrial experts on Budget Hotel industry by AHP as the criteria for establishing the hierarchical analysis framework. There were totally 26 valid questionnaires. The findings suggested that among business strategies of Budget Hotels in China, “operational model” is the most important. As to the dimensions, regarding operational model, “group operation” in the most important; regarding low-cost strategy, “reduction of management cost” is the most important; regarding professional service, “friendly service ” is the most important; as to differentiation strategy, “reasonable prices” is the most important; regarding creation of value, “brand benefit ” is the most important. As to overall hierarchical evaluation factors, “group operation” is the most important and the following are reasonable prices, basic facilities, friendly service, scale operation and brand benefit.
  Based on the above research findings, this study suggests that Budget Hotels of China should develop group operation, catch up with the world, adopt differential and reasonable prices, install differential basic facilities, enhance the employees’ friendly service cognition and training and value the construction of brand image. The suggestions will function as the criteria for the managers of Budget Hotel industry and the star hotels with the intention of transformation.
