碩士 / 國立臺灣科技大學 / 企業管理系 / 100 / In August, 2007, The Master Agent system was launched in Taiwan, which was a milestone in the fund market here. Since then, the size of overseas funds has grown to over NT$2 trillion, and many foreign fund companies regard Taiwan as one of the key markets in Asia. For the past 5 years, however, some foreign fund companies changed their Master Agents in Taiwan. Based on literature analysis and in-depth interviews, this thesis tries to explore the determining factors that foreign fund companies have in mind when they choose Master Agents. The conclusions are as follows:
1. The ability to manage distribution channels is the determining factor. Distribution channel is the most important factor of success sales. When foreign fund companies look for Master Agents in Taiwan, those who can well manage the distribution channels are likely to win the attention.
2. Master Agents under the financial holding companies are preferred. As distribution channels are the primary factor, Master Agents under the financial holding companies have more advantages over other competitors.
3. Independent Master Agents with experiences are on the top list. If foreign fund companies choose Master Agents who do not belong to any financial holding commpanies, it is probably because these Master Agents have had successful experiences even before the Master Agent system was officially launched.
4. Master Agents of more than one fund company are often excluded. With finite capacity and resources, even the most experienced and successful Master Agents cannot cope with the demand by several foreign fund companies.
5. Setting up offices in Taiwan is the final goal. In terms of profit making and long-term development, foreign fund companies would like to establish their own offices and become the Master Agents themselves.
