碩士 / 靜宜大學 / 教育研究所 / 100 / The purpose of the study was to explore primary school teachers’ perceptions of how their classroom management strategies influenced by parents’ nurturing styles, the frequency of parents’ nurturing styles appearing in their classes and the correlations between the frequencies of parents’ nurturing styles and the influences which teachers perceived at schools of the coast area in Taichung City.
The researcher constructed a research instrument named “Questionnaire of Teachers’ Perceptions of Parenting Behaviors Toward the Influence of Classroom Management Strategies”. Employing stratified random sampling based on the sizes of schools, the researcher recruited 375 teachers from different elementary schools at the coast area of Taichung City as the research participants. The findings of this study were:
1. The influence of parenting styles toward teachers’ classroom management strategies:
a. Authoritative parenting parents helps the most to teachers’ classroom management.
b. Compared to female teachers, male teachers were less affected by authoritarian parenting、permissive-indulgent parenting、neglective parenting.
c. Teachers graduated from Education Universities were less affected by authoritative parenting parents.
2. The frequency of parenting behaviors happened in classes:
a. Authoritative parents’ nurturing behaviors happened most frequently..
b. Male teachers were more perceptive of authoritarian parents than female teachers.
c. Branch-appointed teachers were aware of the most about authoritarian parenting、permissive-indulgent parenting parents’ nurturing behaviors.
3. The more teachers perceptived of authoritative parenting, the more they acknowledged those parents’ help in teaching.
Based on the results, the researcher proposed practical suggestions for education staff, administrators, teachers and further studies.
