The impact of global warming on the tropical Indian Ocean / 全球暖化對熱帶印度洋之影響

碩士 / 臺北市立教育大學 / 自然科學系碩士班 / 100 / The change of the sea surface temperature(SST) under global warming on the tropical Indian Ocean is explored by diagnosing the model outputs of the constant climate forcing and increasing greenhouse gas concentration (A1B run ) scenarios of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Fourth Assessment Report (IPCC-AR4). The results show that SST warming is a positive iod like pattern on the tropical Indian ocean. The warming trend in the west is stronger than the east and accompanies a easterly. Compared to the equator , the warming trend is weaker and also accompanies an easterly in the South Indian Ocean off the coast of Western Australia.

We found that the SST variance is become weaker in the IODW region(50°~70°E,10°S~10°N)region and the value of skewness in the IODE(90°~110°E,0°~10°N )region is also become weaker by analysis the long term mean of the sea surface temperature. The weaker variance is associated with the thermocline change. The result of skewness change is due to the change of vertical advection in warm event and horizontal advection in cold event.

During the IOD developing phase(JJA), the warming of equatorial pacific ocean lead to the western equatorial Pacific rises eastward shift. The downwelling branch of the Walker Circulation causing a easterly is enhanced over the East Indian Ocean. It enhanced the ocean upwelling which cause the cold water and depress the intensity of global warming . In the future climate , the change of sea level pressure(SLP)is like a negative AAO pattern. The SLP is become weaker in Antarctic and stronger in middle latitude in the Southern Hemisphere. The subtropical high around 30°~50° in the Southern Hemisphere lead to a easterly in the South Indian Ocean off the coast of Western Australia.
