Ministry of Economic Affairs, the amount of carbon-dioxide emissions in
Taiwan Area had increased from 110,830,000 (1990) tons to 262,811,000
tones (2007). The average growth rate per year was 8%. The
transportation industry is the third largest source of carbon emissions
according to the Industrial Technology Research Institute. To reduce the
amount of carbon –dioxide emission has increasingly become an
important issue for the inland container freight transportation industry. A
new type of CY container transportation was implemented to encounter
the challenges from the environment and energy-price impacts. In this
study, the new transportation model in Jenn Jaan Transportation Relational
Enterprise was carefully examined and compared with the traditional CY
transport mode. The result shows that the operating cost of the new relay
terminal transport model is less than traditional CY transport model. The
new model also reduces the amount of carbon-dioxide emissions and
makes the company more able to face the possible carbon tax cost. This
study also examines three kinds of towing trolleys: Scania, Fuso and DAF,
and the authors find out the DAF can reduce the most Greenhouse Gas
emission.
