碩士 / 長榮大學 / 翻譯學系碩士在職專班 / 101 / In the face of global population aging, the Alzheimer's disease has become not only an important public health issue, but also the “century bomb.” This thesis is to translate parts of The Forgetting - Alzheimer's : Portrait of an Epidemic by treating it as a medical information text as classified by the skopos theory of the Functionalism. This thesis also presents a detailed description of the translation process including the translation plan, preparations, queries of difficult texts, review, and the finalizing of the translated text. The author also describes the problems which she encountered in the translation process and translation techniques which she used to deal with the problems.
