Recently the experts who devoted to the study of hot spring industry have discovered a common existing phenomenon after the long-term unrestrained development of hot-spring area: over pumping has led to the decrease in hot spring water level. The precipitation, the mix of shallow ground water, different seasons or different types of ground water pumping can cause a long-term or short-term alteration of hot spring’s water level, quality and temperature. Hence, understanding the general situation of local hot spring is crucial for us to achieve sustainable use of hot spring resource.
The research method of this paper is to set 13 monitoring stations in Jiaosi Hot Spring and place instruments to observe the change of water level and temperature to draw a run chart. Also, the precipitation of different rain gauge stations is added into the discussion of the relationship between precipitation, water level and the temperature .
The research indicates that it is unable to presume whether the monitored well water level is obviously influenced by the precipitation of mountain area or the ground level area. Therefore, it can only presume there is a positive relationship between precipitation and the rate of water level rising. Compare the relationship between the precipitation with hot spring water temperature hydrograph, it shows that the water level of hot spring rose again from the bottom and the water temperature dropped from the peak. After few days of the rainfall, the water level rose to the peak and the temperature dropped to the bottom. Then, it starts to return again. This phenomenon clearly shows the causal relationship between rainfall and recharge. Compare the annual water level change with the annual rainfall record, it is found that annual average water level rise when the annual precipitation increase. Moreover, there is a linkage relationship between the water level of monitoring well and the rainfall. Thus, a high water year or a low water year is influential to hot spring recharge.
