Work Value and Job Satisfaction Survey Study on Voluntary Soldiers in Central Coastal Patrol Office / 中巡局志願役士兵 工作價值觀與工作滿意度之研究

碩士 / 逢甲大學 / 公共政策研究所 / 101 / Coast guards play a prominent role in national security. Taiwan is surrounded by seas and the coastline length is up to 1,820 kilometers, including the surrounding islands. To enforce the various coast guard duties along the coasts, human resources are required restlessly 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Currently, the main human resources are the soldiers, accounting for 55% of the soldier. The coast guard duties are universal. Everything on the sea areas, the coasts, and the ports is almost related to the coast guard, which makes its complication, danger, urgency, and other properties. These properties trigger the negative emotion of the front line people on duties. Representing the government, the coast guards are the front line contacting people, whose impressions on the government are deeply affected by the performance of the coast guards. Hence, the study aims to discuss how work value affects the job satisfaction for the voluntary soldiers, who interact with people frequently. Hopefully, the study might provide a reference for the decision makers.
We conducted the research by reviewing the related work and issuing the questionnaire. The study surveyed the voluntary soldiers and the voluntary soldiers accepting promotions as noncommissioned officers during April 2013 to June 2013. We totally issued the questionnaire with 168 copies, retrieved 168 copies with 100% retrieving rate, deleted 12 invalid copies, and obtained 156 effective copies with 92.8% usable rate. The study shows
1. The work value and the job satisfaction for the voluntary soldiers in Central Costal Patrol Office are good.
2. For voluntary soldiers, the work value and the work satisfaction are positive correlated.
3. For voluntary soldiers, work value can promote job satisfaction and the wage system is the most effective.
