A Study on Optical Fiber Bragg Grading Pressure Sensor / 布拉格光纖光柵水下壓力感測器之研製

碩士 / 崑山科技大學 / 機械工程研究所 / 101 / The main purpose of this research was to improve the monitoring capability of fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors applied to underwater pressure so that the monitoring possesses sufficient resolution and stability.
The measurement data for underwater pressure is an extremely important aspect of the monitoring system. Water pressure changes provide an important basis for stratigraphic changes and related warnings. However, current use of traditional electronic piezometers entails various technical difficulties while also being costly, which will affect the measurement quality. The advantages of FBG sensors include the following: they are small in volume, corrosion resistant, unaffected by electromagnetic interference, able to transmit signals over long distances, and able to execute dynamic real-time monitoring. The FBG sensor developed by this study uses a booster pump to simulate the changes in water pressure at different water levels in order to measure the actual changes at different water pressures and heights. There is thus high potential in applying FBG sensors for the measurement of diving depths.
This study includes the design details of the FBG sensor and also explores the sensitivity of the sensor’s measurement capabilities experimentally.
