碩士 / 國立中興大學 / 土木工程學系所 / 101 / In order to investigate the mechanism of toe scour, we used the numerical method to simulate the wave characteristics and the toe scour phenomenon caused by waves acting on a sloping seawall. Refer to the previous studies, the bed of slope 1/5 and the seawall of slope 1/1.5 were considered in the simulations. The plunging wave and null-breaking wave were conducted respectively. The simulated results show that: (1) the plunging wave will induce strong down-rush flow and obvious vortex to the toe, and cause significant scour phenomenon. (2) the null-breaking wave cannot induce the down-rush flow and any obvious vortex affect to the toe, and there is no significant scouring phenomenon happen on the sandy bed. Based on the results, we conclude that the obvious toe vortex and the down-rush flow to the toe is highly relative to the toe scour .
