Financial investors around the world face more diversified as well as more complex investment products. Traditional financial management products, such as mutual funds, inflation-linked debt, insurance, government or corporate bonds are no longer able to meet the demands of Taiwan domestic investors. At the same time, Taiwan stock market, a shallow market along with high volatility, pushes domestic financial investors to look for products to serve their increasing needs of risks consciousness for better asset allocation as well as better investment profits.
“Re-consigned Foreign Trading Products” launched by Taiwan security companies help Taiwan financial investors to capture the pulse of global economic momentum, and meet the investors’ needs. In order to serve better their clients, it is already a main trend for major Taiwan security companies to provide “one-stop-shopping” financial services.
Taiwan security companies have had their business focus on the brokerage business. With little or no differentiation on services and products, Taiwan security companies has been long suffering for low profits resulting from the cutting-throat strategy on the brokerage sector or down-sizing in the overall level while, at the same time, pursuing of economies of scale. The bleak bottom lines of these companies have reflected the lack of effectiveness of those strategies. Implementation of the stock income tax policy in 2013 caused the trading volume of Taiwan Stock Market Exchange hit the record low and created a tremendous challenge for all financial practitioners in this market.
Business strategies of Taiwan securities companies applied to manage their Re-consigned Foreign Trading Businesses will be discussed. The scope of Re-consigned Foreign Trading Products will be introduced first. Current financial management market status will be examined from different angles, such as competitive strategies, SWOT analysis, Five Forces Analysis as well as the overall Taiwan financial industry status. Case studies, then, will be discussed for the final conclusion: Taiwan security companies should better understand their individual clients in order to better fulfill clients’ financial management needs and in order to differentiate themselves from other market players. Market share shall no longer be the sole concern of Taiwan Security companies. Discussions of the cases will focus on how the financial professionals use the best of their financial experiences to help their clients to achieve adequate financial planning and a win-win situation. This study will serve as a reference for Taiwan security companies to develop their financial management businesses.
