Implementation of the Integrated Coastal Water Monitoring System AT NKMU

碩士 / 國立高雄海洋科技大學 / 海洋環境工程研究所 / 101 / Both human population growth and industrial development pressure keep increasing in utilization of the spaces in coastal and inland areas. Therefore, preservation of the quality of marine environment underlines an efficient coastal management. The coastal environment monitoring system, developed at National Kaohsiung Marine University (NKMU) for the past years, consists of client component and server component to collect, transmit, process, and display metocean data at coastal water. The system is designed to provide accurate and comprehensive data of both meteorological and oceanographic conditions in a timely manner for various applications in the fields of engineering, academia and management. The field data, including wind speed and direction, atmospheric pressure, air temperature, wave, tide, current, CTD, turbidity, DO, chlorophyll, and blue-green algae can be measured periodically or on-demand. All the collected data will be transmitted via Third Generation (3G) communication to Coastal Water and Environment Center at NKMU in near real time. The data will be processed and broadcasted on the Internet. The ultimate goals for the systems are to enhance our missions in provoking conservation of marine environment, providing demonstration and education to the general public, and supporting a sustainable marine environment for the Earth.
