Computer-Automated Processes for Global Maritime Data Analysis Using Geographic Information System / 全球海事資料之地理資訊系統自動化建置

碩士 / 國立高雄海洋科技大學 / 海事資訊科技研究所 / 102 / Recently, Geographic Information System (GIS) is broadly used in many data applications, including entry, edit, query, analysis, and display. In order to integrate a variety of academic applications and technology products, GIS is designed to connect with internet, aiming at providing user-friendly information. As such, the customized function is strongly emphasized in recent GIS developments. In the operations of GIS data processes, every process needs to be operated by man power which causes long-delayed working time and casual mistakes. In order to increase working efficiency, the computer-automated processes can be designed to replace man-made operations. The main purpose of this study is to develop an operation system of computer-automated GIS processes to manage the global maritime data obtained from the International Comprehensive Ocean-Atmosphere Data Set (ICOADS).
The designed GIS processes in this study allow users with only a few steps to analyze maritime data via a specific platform and visualize horizontal distribution of the data via website. The analyzed maritime data include shipping frequency, wind speed, wave height, sea surface temperature, sea level pressure, and atmospheric temperature. The developed GIS processes employ the C # programming language to execute automated scrip. The processes connect different platforms of desktop GIS, Web GIS, and GIS Server. The processed data can be shown on a terminal set by retrieve client via internet, or by mobile phones via GPS to obtain real-time data simultaneously.
