The Study in Aquacultural Environment and Color Enhancement Feed on Pigmentation for Leopard Coral Grouper (Plectropomus leopardus) / 養殖環境與增艷性飼料對東星斑呈色之研究

碩士 / 國立高雄海洋科技大學 / 水產養殖研究所 / 102 / Groupers are high price species, and are very popular food fish in the world-wide. The consumption of groupers has been growing owing to the rising economies in Asian countries. Among all groupers, the leopard coral grouper (Plectropomus leopardus) is a worth promoting species due to its delicious flavor and stable market price. However, the fish body coloration, which is highly relevant to the market price of the aquatic products, has been one of the bottlenecks in leopard coral grouper culturing. The aim of this study was to improve the color of leopard coral grouper through the experiments of environment control and feed additives, and hopefully the fish price could be increased accordingly. The first experiment was the mimicry and shading experiment. In the mimicry experiment the groupers were reared in the breeding tanks with different colors (white, black , red and green ); in the shading experiment the groupers were reared in the environment covered by the bagel nets with different shielding rate (0%, 50 %, 80 %). The results showed the black tanks and 80 % shielding rate results in the best coloration respectively. The second experiment was the color enhancement with trace elements and raw materials experiment. In the trace elements experiments, different concentrations of astaxanthin (1,000, 2,000, 3,000 mg/kg), vitamin E (1,000, 2,000, 3,000 mg/kg) and plant extracts (250, 500, 750 mg) were added in the feed. The results showed that astaxanthin 3,000 mg/kg induced the best color enhancement, while the plan extracts reduced the color enhancement effect. In raw materials experiment, different content ratio (10, 20, 30 % ) of krill meal were applied in the feed. The results showed that 30% content ratio of krill meal results in the best color enhancement. By consolidating the experiment results in this study, it suggests that the black breeding tanks, 80 % environmental shielding rate and feed additives with krill meal 30 %, astaxanthin 3,000 mg/kg and vitamin E 3,000 mg/kg do provide contributions to the leopard coral grouper body color enhancement.
