A Study of Tzeng Guei-Hai’s Hakka Poetry / 曾貴海客家詩研究

碩士 / 國立屏東教育大學 / 文化創意產業學系 / 101 / Tzeng Guei-Hai was a member of Taiwan Hakka modern poetry whose importance could not be underestimated and was famous for the poem: “Yehho”.His works not only attracted tens of thousands of readers,but also created the southern Hakka image:“north Tung flower,south Yehho ”and has a great impact on modern Hakka poetry. The thesis will be focused on the Hakka poems collection of Tzeng Guei-Hai:Hometown-Yehho and examined the themes and contents, artistic skills and features of the poems in detail.
First,the themes and contents of Hometown-Yehho will be discussed in three chapters:the roots of Hakka history, Hakka homeland reconstruction,and Hakka people description.The roots of Hakka history were described and revealed in his poems.Tzeng reflected the social phenomena and facts within 400 years from Jiadong in Pingtung County to all Taiwan Hakka areas.The contents of the poems expanded from his own experiences to all Hakka people’s fates. The works has been dubbed as“history in poetic form .” In hometown reconstruction , Tzeng reconstructed the hometown landscape ,daily life images and the changes in urban and rural areas.
The description of Hakka people included image-writings of numerous Hakka females, all kinds of characters, and ordinary people, from which the local people, events , times , places , anythings at that time could be deeply understood.
To show his rich emotions and to touch the readers’s hearts ,Tzeng used cultural language codes, rhetoric aesthetics and imagery carrings to sum up his artistic skills.
Next , the characteristics of Tzeng’s Hakka poetry will be analyzed and the conclusion of the study will be induced.With the study, hopefully, the history , geography , people , and the images of events of Liutui Hakka can be constructed. Also , the expressive skills and the irreplaceability of Hakka poetry will be explored so that the study will be beneficial to the following studies on Hakka poetry.
