Study on Dynamic Analysis of the Performance-based Seismic Design for Gravity Type and Sheet Pile Type Wharfs / 動力分析於重力式碼頭與板樁式碼頭之耐震性能設計研究

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 河海工程學系 / 101 / Since Taiwan is situated in the circum-pacific seismic zone, earthquakes are
frequently occurred and cause damages to port structures. Studies related to the
seismic design to reduce the seismic hazards becomes an important issue. After 1992,
several countries including U. S. A., Japan, and European countries have initiated the
studies of seismic performance design. It is also important to incorporate the seismic
performance design into port structures. In this study, we investigate the seismic
performance design method on port structures including gravity type and sheet pile
type wharfs based on the Seismic Design Guidelines for Port Structures of
International Navigation Association in 2001. Three different methods including the
simplified method, the simplified dynamic method, and the dynamic method are
adopted. In addition, the Fast Lagrangian Analysis of Continua (FLAC) is adopted as
the main program for the dynamic analyis in which the Mohr-Coulomb model and
Finn model are used to simulate the excess pore water pressure.
Results obtained show that the liquefaction of the backfill sand plays a crucial
role for the stability of gravity type and sheet pile type of wharfs during the dynamic
analyis. Application examples demonstrate that the seismic performance-based design
can be applied to port structures such as gravity type and sheet pile type wharfs.
However, quantitive data for evaluating the failure displacement are still not enough
to practical design check. It may need further studies on how to evaluate the damage
criteria for failure displacement. Anyhow, the study has successfully conducted the
seismic performance-based design on gravity type and sheet pile type wharfs. It is
expected that the study results could be a useful reference for the seismic
performance-based design for port structures in the future.
