The distribution of dissolved trace metals in seawater around Kueishan island, Northeastern Taiwan. / 龜山島周遭海域溶解態重金屬分佈研究

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 海洋環境資訊學系 / 101 / Abstract
Seawater samples were collected from the hydrothermal vent area of the Kueishan Island and its adjacent coastal waters by Ocean Research No.2 in August 2011 and July 2012. The dissolved concentrations of trace metals (Cd, Cu, Cr6 +, Co, Pb, Ni, Mn, Zn) in the collected seawater samples were analyzed to understand the spatial distribution of trace metals around the Northwestern Taiwan and the influence of the hydrothermal vent of the Kueishan Island. The analyzed concentrations of dissolved trace metals were as follow: Cd, 0.06-0.69 nM; Cu, 0.85-6.58 nM; Cr6+, 2.69-11.62 nM; Co, 0.01-0.52 nM; Pb, 0.04-0.35 nM; Mn, 2.73-27.9 nM; Ni, 1.66-8.8nM; and Zn,1.56-19.07 nM. The sequence of concentrations of trace metals in seawaters was Kueishan Island > inshore > offshore, indicating that the seawaters collected from the Kueishan Island area were influenced by the input of the hydrothermal vent. The vertical profile of Cd in the studied stations showed the nutrient-type distribution. The profiles of Cu and Zn exhibited a higher concentration in the surface layer and depleted with increasing depth until the middle layer, but the concentration increased in the deeper layer. The vertical profiles of Co, Mn, and Pb showed the scavenged-type distribution. The vertical profiles of Cr+6, showed the conservative-type distribution.
