碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 海洋環境資訊學系 / 101 / Badouzih area of Keelung is located in the northeastern corner of Taiwan. This area is close to mountain and sea. The topography of its coastline is very peculiar, with marine ecology of a wide diversity; therefore, it proves to be very rich in resources for leisure activities.This thesis is aimed to study the ocean environment of the Badouzih area and its potential for developing ocean leisure activities. Through a questionnaire, tourists’ understanding of existing leisure resources and the Badouzih area’s environment, and tourists’ willingness to participate in those activities were also studied. The relationship between tourists’ understanding and their willingness to participate was also studied via the questionnaire. Tourists’ suggestions and thinking were compiled as well. The information obtained from the questionnaire was analyzed with the SWOT (strengths, weakness, opportunities, and treats) method. Through the analysis, the potential for developing leisure activities can be evaluated. The study shows that: people from Keelung have deeper understanding of the Badouzih area’s ocean environment than those from other areas; people from all over Taiwan tend to pick “appreciating ocean and mountain sceneries” as their prime choice when they intend to participate in ocean leisure activities; people from Keelung tend to prefer “visiting parks and wide open meadows” and “experiencing the blue road” when they come to the Badouzih area to enjoy leisure activities; people from Taipei and New Taipei areas tend to prefer “buying fish and enjoying sea food” and “swimming and snorkeling”; People from areas other than Keelung, Taipei and New Taipei, on the other hand, tend to prefer “observing coast ecology” and “enjoying local cuisine and visiting the night market”. People’s willingness to participate in the Badouzih area’s ocean leisure activities can be predicted by their understanding of the area’s ocean environment. As to Keelung, where it rains a lot and is humid, some people choose to stay home or visit other cities when it is a rainy day. However, most people are still willing to choose “visiting indoor exhibitions”, and “indoor leisure activities” plus “enjoying local cuisine and visiting markets and shops”. As a result, Keelung still has potential for developing leisure activities even though it rains a lot during the winter season. The SWOT analysis shows that there are more pros than cons for the Badouzih area to develop leisure activities. From the strengths aspect, the Badouzih area has rich natural geographic sceneries, marine resources, historic and cultural remains, and special fishing industry. In addition, it is expected to attract more tourists when the National Museum of Marine Science &; Technology fully operates. From the opportunities aspect, the Badouzih area should use the geological advantage of being close to some of North Taiwan’s tourist attractions to plan its own leisure activity itineraries. Also, it can use the occasions of holding large scale activities to increase its publicity and improve the local tourist industry. From the weaknesses aspect, through communication, planning and aggressive movement, a larger progress should be able to develop. From the treats aspect, weather is uncontrollable; however, figuring out ways to tackle it according to the local environment is feasible. Facilities which can shield tourists from rain and wind can be built to allow tourists to enjoy the sceneries even though it is a rainy day. These facilities can reduce the tourist inconvenience and demonstrate the Badouzih area’s peculiar style. It is believed that the Badouzih area should be able to outshine other areas in terms of offering ocean leisure activities.
