碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 教育研究所 / 101 / This research aims to explore the forgiveness, self-esteem and their relationships among the senior high school students in Keelung city and the maritime vocational high school students in Taiwan. Based on cluster sampling, there were 1922 pupils (response rate: 93.12 %) within 62 classes of 9 schools involved in this survey research.
This research shows: 1. ‘classmate forgiveness’ and ‘family forgiveness’ show moderate level; compared with family forgiveness, it shows senior high school students significantly higher than maritime vocational high school students, 2. ‘self-esteem’ show moderate level, 3. it shows low positive correlation (r=.212) between classmate forgiveness and self-esteem, and low positive correlation (r=.209) between family forgiveness and self-esteem, furthermore, the classmate forgiveness and family forgiveness shows moderate positive correlation (r=.344). 4. based on step-wise regression, ‘absence of negative’, presence of positive’, ‘realization’ and ‘reparation’ have significant influence on self-esteem (R=.249,R2 =.087,p&;lt;.001).
This research clearly show forgiveness can influence self-esteem, and in this case, educators need to cultivate pupils’ classmate forgiveness in school and promote family forgiveness on parent-teacher meeting for increasing the level of pupils’ self-esteem in order to improve school guidance program.
