Developing and Validating the Marine Environmental Literacy Scale / 海洋環境素養量表編製及其效化之研究

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 教育研究所 / 101 / The purpose of the study is to develop a scale of marine environmental literacy for junior high school students. There are 450 participants and by the testing of reliability and validity the marine environmental literacy by junior high school students are investigated. The data are analyzed by Pearson’s correlation, Cronbach’s α, factory analysis, descriptive statistics, and one-way ANOVA. The main findings are as follows:
1. Scale connotation include "perceptual experience of the marine environment" "the values and beliefs of the marine environment" and "behavioral intention on the marine environment" there are 50 questions. Then, through correlation analysis and factor analysis, delete factor loadings were less than .4, finally retained 35 questions.
2. "Perceptual experience of the marine environment" of Cronbach's α was .85, "belief in the value of the marine environment" of Cronbach's α was .72, and "behavioral intention on the marine environment" of Cronbach's α was .92, full-scale's Cronbach's α was .88, indicates that the scale has good internal consistency.
3. Through literature review and expert examination, the scale has good content validity. Each dimension of the relevant factors up to a significant level, indicating that the scale has good construct validity. Factor analysis, "perceptual experience of the marine environment" explained variance was 59.93%, "belief in the value of the marine environment" explained variance was 50.26%, and "behavioral intention of the marine environment" explained variance was 62.35%, indicates that the scale has good construct validity.
4. The current status of marine environmental literacy: junior high school students' marine environmental literacy level is above average. Students' "marine environmental behavior of social groups," are differences due to school. Junior high school literacy level of the marine environment will not differ grade level.
Implications of these results, suggestions for the practice and future research are discussed.
