碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 環境生物與漁業科學學系 / 101 / The purpose of this study is to discuss the reproductive biology of anglerfish, Lophiomus setigerus in the northeastern waters off Taiwan. A total of 888 specimens (416 males, 472 females) were collected by otter trawls in Dasi fishing port, Yilan County from Sep. 2011 to Nov. 2012. The relationship between total length (TL; in cm) and eviscerated weight (EW; in g) showed a significant different between female EW = 0.0615TL 2.6013 (n = 472) and male EW = 0.0198TL 2.9072 (n = 416). By histological examination, oocyte measurement and gonadosomatic index, the development of the oocyte could be divided into Chromatin nucleus stage, Perinucleus stage, Yolk vesicle stage, Yolk stage 1, Yolk stage 2, Yolk stage 3, Migratory nucleus stage, Ripe egg stage, Spent stage and Atretic stage.The histology of the gonads showed seasonal changes in both the gonadosomatic index (GSI) and hepatosomatic index (HSI). Mean GSI of females increased with ovarian development. The spawning season of L. setigerus in the northeastern waters off Taiwan was estimated to be from Apr. to Oct.. The following characteristic suggested that L. setigerus spawns in batches: oocytes segregated by size within the ovary and formed a batch that separated from the group of smaller oocytes. The ovary reached its maturity when the (GSI) > 2.46. The batch fecundity were 113,876 - 451,662 eggs (n = 46), with a mean of 201,694 ± 70,971 eggs. Average length of male and female at 50% sexual maturity was estimated to be 20.19 cm and 28.54 cm TL, respectively, based on the relationship between proportion of maturity and total length. The minimum size at maturity were 197 mm for males and 278 mm for females. All males ≧ 252 mm and females ≧ 337 mm were mature.
