碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 輪機工程系 / 101 / Fuel cell is an emerging substitute energy using chemical energy converted to electrical energy directly by electrochemical reaction. It has the advantages of low pollution, no noise and high power efficiency. If the fuel cell as a power generation system of the ship, it’s not only improving oceanic pollution problems effectively, but also solving the plight of energy shortage gradually in the world. This study used the formal safety assessment (FSA) to analyze the application of fuel cell for the feasibility of small ship propulsion system. FSA is a structured and systematic methodology which can assess the risk of maritime activities as well as improve the costs to achieve the greatest benefits by reducing the risk. The results indicate that the hydrogen today is stored in solid-state metal alloy of AB5 type, its price is expensive but the material is stable and suitable to place on the ship to supply fuel. Although the cost of the installation of the fuel cell is more than 40 times higher than the original boat-outside machine driven by gasoline engine, in the future, fuel cell will become the main source of power supply in the ship to replace traditional generator because of the continuing rise of oil prices, hydrogen can be recycled, developed technology of fuel cell in which volume is reduced and efficiency is increased, in addition, to increase the concentration stoichiometric ratio and the backpressure of fuel effectively and to control the operational temperature and the import humidification temperature of fuel cell appropriately result in improving efficiency of fuel cell.
