The Effect of Learning Achievement of Marine Education Teaching Activities for Sixth Graders / 海洋教育教學活動對國小六年級學童學習成效之影響

碩士 / 國立臺北教育大學 / 自然科學教育學系碩士班 / 101 / This research is aimed to implement marine education as a topic into elementary science teaching. This project is to explore students’ achievement in concepts and attitude of marine education after course learning.
The research subjects are 259 sixth-grades at an elementary school in New Taipei City where the researcher has been working. First, the research process is initiated with the investigation of documents; later the activities are designed on the basis of marine education, and finally teachers implement the teaching activities. It is expected that students’ learning interest could be raised through experiencing and observing the teaching activities of marine education. And further, students’ study attitude about marine education would be influenced and the learning achievement would be promoted.
This research method used in this study was one group pretest-protest designed method. The quantitative study instruments included “Knowledge of Marine Education Achievement Test” and “Attitude of Marine Education Scale”. The collection of qualitative data included the journal of the researcher’s thinking, the students’ work sheets and the record of students’ interview. The outcome was obtained by the triangulation of quantitative and qualitative data.
The results of this study included:
1. Sixth-grade students had a better understanding on marine education after participating the marine education teaching activities.
2. Sixth-grade students had more positive performances about attitude of marine education after participating the marine education teaching activities.
The conclusion of this research comes out with several suggestions: first, we should add the topic with marine lives to the course design; second, we should raise practical experience in the teaching activities; third, we should utilize the videos when students are learning. Field trip could proceed in the educational field.
