ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to investigate the leisure activity participation, health- promoting lifestyle and quality of life among senior citizens in Haiduan, Taitung. The age of senior citizens were targeted in people who was 60 years old and above. The total number of participants to the survey was 300. Of those, one did not fully complete the survey. For these reasons, reducing the sample size to 299 (n=299), response rate of 99.6%. The obtained data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test analysis of variance, one way ANOVA, and Pearson correlation. Based on the data Analysis, the following were main findings:
1. The result has shown that the participants were in the upper standard of health-
promoting lifestyle and quality of life.
2. The part of interpersonal support had the highest scores in the health- promoting
lifestyle, and the health responsibility was the lowest score. There were significant differences in the health promoting lifestyle influenced by the following backgrounds: gender, age, living arrangements, marital status, educational attainment, economic status, religion, occupation status, perceived health status, health problem, etc.
3. In quality of life section, the environment had the highest scores and the lowest
score was psychological status. There were significant differences in quality of life influenced by gender, age, living arrangement, marital status, educational attainment, economic status, religion, occupation status, perceived health status, health problem, etc.
4. Representative correlations were found between the health promoting lifestyle and
the living quality.
5. Walking was the most popular leisure activity. In contrast with that, jogging was not. The research also shows the most participated activity is “slow walking”, and the lowest, “jogging” by the research matr
