Intergaration of Information Technology in an Anchored Instruction Teaching Method: A Case Study of Taiwanese Schools in Jakarta, Indoenisa. / 資訊融入錨式情境教學法應用於海外臺灣學校鄉土教學之研究

碩士 / 國立臺東大學 / 教育學系(所) / 101 / This research project explores the usage of an information-integration based anchored instruction method to teach Taiwanese knowledge to students attending an international school (Funded by the Taiwanese Government) located in Jakarta, Indonesia. Student learning outcomes were measured by their understanding of Taiwanese knowledge, culture and their attitudes towards to it.
Empirical data collected from participants attending the Jakarta Taipei School were chosen from grade six students in and divided into two groups. Students in control group, were taught using a traditional lecturing style approach for the topic of Taiwanese traditions, whereas experimental group were taught via the integration of information technology in an Anchored instruction led teaching method. The integrated information technology method entails a story telling approach containing a series of photo images and viedo clips. A film called ‘in- depth tour in Kaohsiung’, is the story about two cousins: Nepalese (a Taiwanese decedent) and Main (a native Taiwanese from Kaohsiung). A series of themes were embedded into video content. This method enhanced students learning of cognitive knowledge, skills and affective identification by solving problems accordingly.
Students learning outcomes were tested by their knowledge about Taiwanese knowledge, traditions and their attitude towards them. Empirical data was then tested using a t-test, single factor ANCOVA.

The tentative findings include:
1.Different teaching methods have shown significant differences in students learning outcomes.
2.Using an anchored instruction led teaching method in delivering Taiwanese cultural lectures has shown better learning outcomes than traditional approach.
3.Different teaching methods have shown significant differences in student learning outcome especially in retaining Taiwanese traditions.
4.Intergrated information technology teaching methods have improved learning outcomes in terms of retaining Taiwanese traditions.
5.Students who were taught by an anchored instruction method are more willing to learn Taiwanese knowledge than students taught by a traditional teaching method.
6.Students who were taught using an integrated information technology anchored instruction method were more willing to learn Taiwanese knowledge than students taught using a traditional teaching method.
