碩士 / 中國文化大學 / 國際企業管理學系碩士在職專班 / 101 / According to the World Health Organization (WHO), population aging is defined as that the number of the elderly in an area (65 years old and older) accounts for more than 7% of total population. Community welfare work will start from community care stations.
This study adopted qualitative research methods by thoroughly interviewing des-ignated subjects from Neihai Community Development Association in Taoyuan County. It intended to understand the difficulties, challenges and opportunities that community care stations may have.
Research findings:
1. About the Association: Emphasis regarding community development shall be placed upon “staff recruitment”.
2. About community care stations: some stations are too far to be accessible for the elderly who live in remote areas so it is suggested to establish more stations.
Three suggestions made in this study are as follows:
1. Enhance the recruitment and training of volunteers.
2. Work with neighborhoods, families and community residents to look after elderly people in need.
3. In the era of information technology boom, the Internet is essential allowing us-ers to retrieve information promptly.
Future research directions:
1. To study the mentality of volunteers: to find out how to stabilize volunteers’ ability and seek welfare for them.
2. To study the mentality of the elderly: to examine the restrictions that non-profit organizations may encounter while carrying out the welfare programs for the elderly.
