A Study on the Influence on Financial Tsunami and Intellectual Captial on Business Performance / 金融海嘯與智慧資本對經營績效影響之研究

碩士 / 靜宜大學 / 財務金融學系 / 101 / The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of financial tsunami and intellectual capital on firm performances of Taiwan electronics industry during the period of 2005 to 2011. Four dimensions of intellectual capital, human capital, customer capital, innovation capital and process capital, have been used to investigate their effect on firm performances. In addition to intellectual capital, the effect of financial tsunami on firm performances is also investigated. Firm performances being involved in this study include returns on assets, return on equity, operating profit margin and profit margin.
  The empirical results showed that, use of Intellectual Capital including human capital, customer capital, innovation capital and process capital do significantly affect firm performances. In human capital, employee productivity and employee value-added on all of the firm performances have a significant effect before the Financial Tsunami and after it, as well as employee number on returns on assets, and profit margin have a significant effect before the Financial Tsunami and after it. In customer capital, selling expenses has a significant effect on all of the firm performances, and revenue growth rate has a significant effect on returns on assets, operating profit margin, and profit margin after the Financial Tsunami time. In innovation capital, R&D intensity has a significant effect on returns on assets, operating profit margin and profit margin before the Financial Tsunami and after it, as well as R&D density has a significant effect on returns on assets and profit margin have a significant effect before the Financial Tsunami and after it, and R&D density has a significant effect on returns on equity after the Financial Tsunami time. In process capital, management cost per employee have a significant effect on returns on assets before the Financial Tsunami time, as well as management cost per employee has a significant effect on operating profit margin and profit margin after the Financial Tsunami time;And current capital turnover have a significant effect on returns on equity and operating profit margin before the Financial Tsunami time, as well as management expense ratio and total assets turnover have a significant effect on all of the firm performances before the Financial Tsunami and after it. In addition, financial tsunami has a significant effect on all of the firm performances.
