Chinese People's Liberation Army Military Operations Other Than War : A Case Study of Counter-Piracy Task Force and Peacekeeping Operation / 中共解放軍非戰爭軍事行動之研究 ─以海上護航及維和行動為例

碩士 / 國防大學政治作戰學院 / 政治研究所 / 101 / In recent years, PLA has reduced their traditional military operation gradually because the international strategic situations and the tension cross straits have been changing. However, the PLA is playing a different role than they used to play to protect the national benefits and security issues when facing the increasing non-traditional security threats. Therefore, they have conducted all kinds of non-warfare missions such as Disaster Relief Operations(DRO),counter-terrorism,convoy,and peace-keeping operations. It is important to understand that how PLA use these military actions to protect their strategic interests and to rise the reputation and the values of country throughout these non-traditional security threats.
This research is conducted by literature analysis and historical research to inquire what PLA’s strategic position is to face the constantly non-tradition security threats; to understand the developing process of these non-warfare operations, and by analyzing two kinds of offshore operations, the sea-convoy operation and the peace-keeping operation to conclude the future development of PLA.
