碩士 / 聖約翰科技大學 / 企業管理系碩士班 / 101 / Taiwan Corporate Credit Risk Index plays a crucial role in the choice of foreign entry mode, but its influence may vary across firms. This study investigates the difference by examining the effect of international experience. This study hypothesizes that international experience plays a contingent role. When MNEs enter with wealthy international experience, they prefer to choose wholly owned modes for avoiding partners’ hazards. However, if general international experience is satisfactory, the local partners’ opportunistic behavior will be restricted, and MNEs thus prefer JVs. An analysis of 1998 entries by Taiwanese MNEs into 37 countries supports the hypotheses.
