碩士 / 南台科技大學 / 休閒事業管理系 / 101 / The purpose of this study was to learn the personality traits, travel motivation, perceived risk and travel intention towards overseas independent travel for residents at Tainan City, explore the relationships between and these among variables, and further identify the influences of personality traits, travel motivation and perceived risk on travel intention.
A survey questionnaire with convenient sampling method was employed and data were collected from residents of Tainan city. Six hundred questionnaires were distributed and resulted in 561 valid samples. The data collected were analyzed by descriptive analysis, factor analysis, T-test, one-way ANOVA, canonical correlation and multiple regression analysis. The results showed: 1. Residents’ personality traits were significantly predictive of travel motivation. Specifically, the factors of extraversion and openness were the most powerful one. 2. There was a significantly positive relationship between travel motivation and perceived risk. In addition, the factor of performance risk could be predicted by motivation of escape. 3. Residents’ personality traits were significantly predictive of performance risk with the factor of neuroticism the most powerful one. 4. Residents’ personality traits, travel motivation, and perceived risk were predictive of travel intention. In particular, the factors of neuroticism, pursuing thrills/adventure, financial and psychological risk were the main predictors of the travel intention.
