碩士 / 國立臺北科技大學 / 經營管理系碩士班 / 101 / A berth planning optimization problem is to determine berthing times and positions of container ships in port container terminals such that the operation time is minimized. Berths are the most important, limited and hard to expand resource at a port. How to efficiently increase the throughput of a port by optimizing the utilization of the berths is a very important problem. This study therefore develops a deterministic optimization model to treat the problem. Comparing with heuristic approaches, the proposed method guarantees to obtain a global optimum. Several examples are also presented to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed model. Numerical results reveal that the proposed model can effectively improve the utilization of the berths.
