碩士 / 臺北市立教育大學 / 應用物理暨化學系自然科學教學碩士班 / 101 / There are three purposes of this study. First, it is to explore the cognitive differences and the difference in attitude of marine education among fifth graders with difference backgrounds before teaching. Second, it is to explore the cognitive change of marine concepts examination among fifth graders applying outdoors education. Third, it is to explore the change in attitude of marine education among fifth graders applying outdoors education.
The study adopts quasi-experimental design. The subjects of the study are the fifth graders(n=103) of primary school in New Taipei City. They were divided into two groups. An experiment group (n=51) learned Marine Education curriculum by outdoor teaching model. A control group (n=52) learned Marine Education curriculum from the traditional teaching method. In research methods, the experimental instruments included Achievement Assessment of Marine Education and Learning Attitude Scale of Marine Education. The “Achievement Assessment of Marine Education” and” Learning Attitude Scale of Marine Education” were set up by the researcher. The researchers assessed students before and after teaching by ‘Test paper’ and ‘Scale’ as tools in teaching. The qualitative data includes students’ questionnaire and worksheets. In using the quantitative data to precede statistical analysis, and collecting qualitative data, in order to record the process of interaction between teachers and students.
The results show that: First, there are no significant differences in the scores of marine knowledge in the aspects of difference backgrounds before teaching. There are significant differences in the score of marine attitude in the aspects of different genders and socioeconomic status of a family. Second, the average scores of marine knowledge in both experimental and control groups increased after applying the designed curriculum. The findings show that the experimental group has more correct concepts towards marine education than the control group. Third, the average scores of marine positive attitudes in both experimental and control groups increased after applying the designed curriculum. However, there is no significant difference between the two groups.
According to the results, some suggestions were provided to education administration and teachers as well as for further study.
