The strategic model study of “Art of War” used in the technology industry for operating decisions-Hon Hai Group / 《孫子兵法》戰略模式運用於科技業經營決策之研究—以鴻海集團為例

碩士 / 育達商業科技大學 / 企業管理所 / 101 / “Art of War “ is an ancient war textbook to teach people how to use military force to win a war, is well-known the oldest military theoretical writings in the world. Now, there are more than lots of Studies and papers to discuss about "Art of War" in domestic or abroad. The pioneer who formed and developed this strategic thinking, no doubt, was the great "Sun Tsu" also the author of "Art of War". This book is not just a purely military forces in ancient combat secrets, but also suit the modern business criteria in all kinds of industries in today. "Art of War" has become a famous knowledge which influence around the World. Its theory can be applied to the modern enterprise on each line, including way of leadership, plan of strategic principles, and method of action. Just as same as described in the "Art of War" mentioned "you have to think and plan before fight. Moe times you did, the winning chance bigger, less you did than the chance of win smaller, but if you did nothing before fight then the failure comes to you soon.” In the same word to Enterprise, Management Policy aims to create a business environment and win. If company doesn’t do " think and plan " strategy before go into the unknown market, just as the army only fight without any strategy can be said that foolhardy. Enterprise wanna win and get a foothold in the industry, it has to able to meet strategic requirements of the competitive environment, create short-term competitive advantage, which is the key to built hegemony in the era.
This study aims to investigate a business from the initial stage, the develop stage, the growing stage to become the most powerful leader in industry, how this process can fit and deal with the thirteen chapters in "Art of War". How to use the skill and strategy learned from the book to defeat the competitors and get the final win. How to confuse your competitors through by handled all situations and to vary fake and true that make them similar. The "Art of War" is also widely used in the process that thrives the Hon Hai Group, such as commercial activities, business and organizational management.
In this study will dedicate in market share, Lanchester rule, balanced scorecard, competitive analysis and management implications such as Blue Ocean Strategy. The above analysis will express clearly how Hon Hai Group growth learned from the most major five elements of the "Art of War", it also can be served as lessons for other business to get success.
Hon Hai Precision was founded in 1974. It started from 300,000RMB and now has become the world's largest electronics manufacturing & services company. As a case study, Hon Hai shows how workable in each various stages of growth strategy that is guided with the "Art of War". Step by step to execute the set plan till the implementation of the strategic model completely, that’s why Hon Hai can enter the market it want and still maintain the competitive advantage.
