The Diagnosed Body With Treatment:The Research Of Author Who Is Also The Doctor That Live In Off-Shore Island / 被診治的「身體」─醫生作家的離島書寫研究

碩士 / 國立中正大學 / 台灣文學研究所 / 102 / Abstract

Both the outlying islands and Taiwan are islands over the seas. Although they are all islands but the resources allocations are uneven and thus result in different cultures. We often heard about the lack of resources and the elegies of the residents of the outlying islands.WANG, XIANG-QI and HOU, WEN-YONG utilized Peng-hu as a field to describe how the environment of Peng-hu caused the diseases of the residents, and the authors used the texts to describe them separately. The aboriginal writer Tuobasi Tamapima even is the first writer who chronicled the healthcare of outlying islands.

After Tuobasi Tamapima graduated from the medical school, he automatically applied to give service at Lanyu and recorded with pens the treatment processes of the three years service at Lanyu. Through the discussion of the doctor-patient relationship, those three writers claimed that both the problems of the outlying islands and the bodies of the patients need diagnosis and treatment.

Therefore the author of the thesis targets on the literary works of the three outlying island doctors to discuss how the doctors should observe the outlying islands through the eyes of a doctor, write the literature through the hands of a writer, diagnose and treat the problems of the outlying islands and present the humane care of the awkward position of the outlying islands being viewed as “the outsiders” by Taiwan.

The thesis based on them to analyze the works of the outlying island doctor writers to find the medical disciplines behind the diseases and the bodies.
