A Study of the Fishing Vessels Communication in Taiwan / 台灣漁船通訊之研究

碩士 / 正修科技大學 / 電子工程研究所 / 102 / Taiwan is surrounded by ocean which is abundance in marine resources. Marine resource is the foundation of our country's long-term development and the development of the fishing industry play an important role in it. Nautical instruments and communications equipment are the eyes and ears of boats when they leave the harbor; they not only guide the direction of navigation but also provide important information on weather, fishing news, and maritime issues, etc. Therefore, this thesis is focused on collecting and researching communication equipment data of Taiwanese fishing vessels. In early days, ship navigation was relied on the terrain by day and the sky by night. During the periods before electricity were available, communications were done by flags, lights and sound signals, since there was no unified communications rules, the range of communication is limited. When electronic compass and other navigation instruments were discovered follow by the electromagnetic waves technologies, the era of wireless communication was opened. Recently, thanks to technologies of the Global Positioning System (GPS) and INMARSAT (International Maritime Satellite; INMARSAT), the position and orientation of ships can be interpreted immediately. Moreover, they can also provide voice communications, emails and video services too. These allow ship owner to management their company more efficiently and rapidly.
