Tunnel opened in 2006. The tunnel, connecting Taipei to Ilan, cuts down the
journey time from two hours to just half an hour. Consequently, WuanChuanGo
Park becomes a must-visit spot. Due to increasing visitors, the environment of
the hot spring area bears quite heavy loading and the service quality of tourism
also faces the ordeal. Therefore, the purposes of this study include (1)
understanding the recreational conflict factor of tourists and (2) understanding
the relevance between the recreational conflict factors and tourist perception and
(3) analyzing the relationship between recreational conflicts and coping
behaviors. From November 23 to December 1 in 2013, a convenience sampling
survey had been conducted among the tourists of WuanChuanGo Park over 18
and 400 effective copies questionnaires were generated.
The results of this research show that tourists experienced much more
recreation conflict generated by “resource specificity” than any other factors.
Most tourists chose to cope with behavior of rationalization or product shift
when conflicts occurred. The relationship among “recreation conflict cognition”,
“conflicts perception” and “conflicts coping behavior” was showed to be
significant.
This will bring us to the conclusion that the administration should pay more
attention to recreation interference and improve the situation, in order to reduce
negative coping behaviors, including tourists not being visiting Jiaosi and Jiaosi
being displaced by other tourist attraction. The administration of Jiaosi Hot
Spring area should take into consideration that (1) review and improve the entire
environment quality, (2) enhance the hardware construction and cleanliness, (3)
carry out the traffic control of visitors.
