Enhancing effects of porous fins on natural convection / 多孔介質鰭片增強自然對流熱傳之研究

碩士 / 逢甲大學 / 機械與電腦輔助工程學系 / 102 / This thesis investigates the natural convention in two-dimensional horizontal channels containing vertical porous fin through numerical simulation. Widely used software FLUENT is utilized, and the Darcy-Brinkman-Forchheimer equation is adopted for numerical simulation. The discussed factors include the height ratio, width ratio, Darcy number (Da), and porosity (ε) of porous fin, and the effects of the Rayleigh number (Ra) of the working fluid on heat transfer are also studied. A comparison between traditional solid fin and porous one is made regarding the improvement on heat transfer.
The numerical results reveal that porous fin possesses better heat transfer than solid one. The longer the fin height ratio is, the greater heat transfer will be. Nevertheless, the increased fin height reduces the heat transfer ratio of porous fin to solid fin. In addition, the increase of porous fin width ratio, Darcy number, Rayleigh number, and porosity all lead to better heat transfer, and the heat transfer ratio of porous fin to solid one is also increased.
