It gave this world a whole new image; it has brought wealth and convenience to our society. However, none of us are satisfied with what we already have, humans are demanding for more. Our greed is what made the society grow; yet at the same time, it is also the cause of reason for war, poverty, disease, human inequality, and the drastic change of the global weather. Governments worldwide have raise their concern regarding these matters, and this is when the NGOs; None Government Organizations began to form. Taiwan Root Medical Peace Corps. is a medical based NGO from Taiwan. It started from giving free medical services in remote areas in Taiwan, and later formed a system for international purposes that can provide the same medical service to other countries that lack of medical resources, and finally, an emergency system that can form in short period of time for emergency rescues.
This research will be focus on TRMPCs medical services, and their emergency rescues. The study will be based on the interview of individual experiences; who have volunteer in this organization before. In which includes the head leader of this organization, professional medical doctors, regular volunteers, and organization personnel, total of seventeen people.
Toward the end of the research, TRMPCs system is formed by the experience of missionary service. From various roles their volunteers have to achieve, professional performance under limited resources, knowing how to prioritize situations, flexibility adjustment, and the visible improvement and growth of this organization. It continuously shows their works on service domain, community, and the actual practice, with all the above, it shows the perfect example of community of practice, and further more, their effective medical service on emergency reliefs.
To conclude this research, below is a few suggestions for TRMPC:
Resources – TRMPC have a small working unit, yet very efficient. In order to make it more efficient, they should integrate and expand their connection for resources. Thus maximize perfection on their already well-trained unit.
Volunteers – Other then medical professionals, with numerous amount of loyal volunteers from different fields, TRMPC should recognize their specialties and assign them on specific mission based on their professions for better performance.
Follow up - TRMPC have set their foot on many different countries where people have different needs. It’d be more meaningful if they could organize the patients’ records and develop a system that can provide medical needs and information on specific countries/areas.
Connections – Effective partnerships that can provide more resources, thus TRMPC can work on their services more effectively as well without having to worry not having enough supplies.
