A Study of Reproductive Biology of Macrobrachium nipponense in Sihchong River / 四重溪日本沼蝦生殖生物學之探討

碩士 / 崑山科技大學 / 環境工程研究所 / 102 / Macrobrachium nipponense extensively inhabits rivers and lakes in Taiwan. In assisting resource evaluation and management, the study assessed the reproductive biological characteristic of M. nipponense by gathering samples in Sihchong River of Pingtung twice a month from March 2012 to May 2013. Within the specimens, 104 are spawning shrimps (N= 2,474). Average length (L) and weight (W) are 2.7 cm to 7.9 cm and 0.09 g to 2.58 g respectively with power function of W= 0.0049L3.0873. The relationship between absolute fecundity (F) and body length could be expressed as a monomial function of F= 3.4512L3.0302; the relationship between absolute fecundity and weight has linear equation of F= 666.71W+ 1.3789; the relative fecundity could regard as a constant function, and its 95% confidence limit was 664.73± 17.66 eggs/g (N= 104). The study also finds that the main spawning periods were March and April of spring and September, which are comparatively earlier than the period of M. nipponense inhabits lakes in Yangtze plain, China. Factors lead to the difference could be the earlier increase of water temperature due to the geographic differences; the average number of eggs laid by a female shrimp was 525.3± 407.2. It is far less compared to Chinese data since the food is limited in Sihchong River. Furthermore, the average body length of spawning shrimps in Sihchong River is longer than which in Yangtze River region that would mainly relate to the overfishing issue.
