Trade between countries is very frequent nowadays, exchange rate fluctuations often affect many countrys' export competitiveness. Taiwan is a small opening export-oriented economy. Therefore, the influences of foreign trade, have a significant impact on Taiwan's economy, the need to enhance economic development through international trade. The top technology leader of transportation industy and electronics and mechanics industries in the Asian area, is Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.This paper analyses the influence of exchange rate changes on the exports of transportation, exports of electronics and mechanics industries of world and United States to Taiwan,Japan and South Korea.Monthly data period:(1) Taiwan and South Korea:from January 2000 to February 2014 (2) Japan:from January 2007 to February 2014.
The finding of this study are as follows:
(1)Taiwan:Total exports, total exports of electronics and mechanics and total exports of transport for exchange rate,there is a one-way influence. Causal relationship exists feedbacks between the exchange rate and total exports. Total exports of transportation to the U.S.that the impact on the exchange rate is one-way.
(2)Japan:Total exports of transport for total exports ,there is a one-way influence. Between the exchange rate and other variables, no significant causal relationship.
(3) South Korea:The exchange rate for total exports and total exports of electronics and mechanics, there is a one-way influence. The exchange rate for
total exports of electronics and mechanics to the U.S.that the impact on the exchange rate is one-way.
