碩士 / 嶺東科技大學 / 視覺傳達設計系碩士班 / 102 / Subtraction design is one of design styles. There are different forms of presentation to interpret the concept of subtraction design, such as simple lines, abstract artistic images and simple geometric patterns. Subtraction design is also interpreted in different domains of modern design such as the simplicity of interior design, the abstraction of painting, the patterns of costume design and the brief language of signs in advertisements. This study selected three major theories in Asia: the aesthetics of the realm in Taoism, the aesthetics of the realm in Zen and the unadorned aesthetics of Japan. This study researched the related theories of above by literature reviewing and arranged the reviewing results to a series of creation processes. The creation processes were: (1)the reinterpretation of essence; (2)the reservation of the minimal essence; and (3)the arrangement of nothingness and real. Applying above in poster design, the creation topic was determined as "The Twelve Primitive Taiwanese Flowers", and there were three extension poster series created: (1)the reinterpretation of white; (2)the reverberation of emptiness; and (3)the return of nature. This study purposes to practice the design style of logic with subtraction and interpret the design concept of logic with subtraction by personal creating.
